Ways to practice self-care

Ways to Practice Self-Care

Self-care is ultimately about reducing burnout and creating a sustainable work-life balance. Putting yourself first isn't selfish !

Steps to self care:

Say No and Stop Over - Committing Yourself

When we continue to always say yes, this keeps us from doing the things we want to do. Ultimately , we end up doing the things other people want. Standing up for your time and energy is crucial when people ask too much of you. Listen to your inner voice, put YOUR needs first , and be firm when saying no.

Focus on your basic needs

Self care is important because it allows us to be the healthiest version of ourselves. When you feel stressed out ask :
"Did I get enough sleep ?"
"Have I been eating a balanced diet ?"
"Have I been working out ?"
These questions will help you realize what it is you're doing wrong. If your answer was no to those questions focus on working them out, this will lead you to have a healthy mind, body, and soul.

Limit your screen time

You're probably tired of hearing "Get off your phone, it's bad". But that's exactly why, it's important for our mental health and being. Scrolling through Instagram isn't bad but if you're glued to it 24/7 then we have a problem. Spending a lot of your time on social media keeps you from being productive and wast time on looking at other people. The good thing about phones now is that it tells you how much screen time you have during your week. In the name of self-care vow to be less on social media and focus on yourself.

Give your morning routine a makeover

Your morning routine sets the tone for the rest of your day. When you rush in the morning , trying to get out the door, your day will most likely feel rushed too. Taking the extra time in the morning , practice self-care will help the rest of your day feel smooth and run smoothly.

Make your mind a blissful place

Whatever you do, it's important to keep your mind blissful. Practice positive affirmations and self reflection. Make a conscious effort to be grateful about everything in your life. If you feel sad let it don’t hold anything in because it makes things worse. Remember to do everything showing love to yourself and staying present in the moment.

Feel your feelings
Many times we tend to over analyze our feelings because they don’t always make sense. Constantly trying to come up with a reason for our feelings, we deny ourselves the experience to feel and connect with our inner selves. Rather, give yourself permission to feel on a daily basis without analyzing our eliminating your feelings. Try to understand your feelings, but without the use of judgment or attachment.

Find your place to vent
No matter how much you try to keep a positive mindset , there will always be a time when you need to vent. It’s difficult to be positive all the time. There is no reason to feel bad for having to complain or vent sometimes. Look for a place where you can share your inner thoughts and feelings , what you really feel inside without hurting yourself or others. A great way for doing that is journaling, calling a friend, or going for a run.

Practice self reflection

Self-reflection is one of the best ways that you can practice self care. Reflecting can help you make sense of your emotions, understand yourself more, and discovering ways to deal with situations positively rather letting  them consume you. Throughout your week try finding a time where you can self reflect. Write down what’s currently on your mind and the things that have happened in your life.
